The first picture is taken from our the balcony of our condo - there's the beach! It was neat to be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves each night. Felt like we were on a MSTR cruise again!

In the middle of the week, we drove about 70 miles south, took a ferry to Ocracoke island and went beaching there. It was fabulous there, you can tell from the picture below that we had the beach to ourselves! A couple of other families here and there, but talk about unspoiled beaches! Plus, the seashells were cooler here.
Here we are, after a day on Ocracoke Island, heading back on the ferry. Note our minivan is at the end of the boat. We were literally the last car allowed onto the ferry. Arturo and I were beyond thrilled about that. Otherwise, it was another 30 minute wait with two sandy and cranky kids in the heat.
On our last day at the beach, I wanted to dig a really really really deep hole. I got it started and then Arturo kept going. In the end, it ended up being about 5 ft deep and we actually hit the ocean water. I was more excited about that than the girls. 
It is really hard to tell from the picture below, but Alexa has about 3-4 jellyfish parts in the green shovel. The water was warm our entire trip and so jellyfish were floating all around the water and the beach. At first I was terrified, but it turns out that none of these jellyfish seem to have stingers and they seemed harmless. Alexa became completely obsessed with wandering the beach looking for the jellys. She would come back to us every now and then with a shovel full and ask us to help her "bury" the jellyfish.

Fran, wiping out on the boogie board. As Arturo put it, I'm not so graceful in the water. I got smacked down by plenty of waves and there was nothing pretty about it.
