Alexa turns 2!!!!

I still can't believe it...Alexa turned 2 today...! Even though her party isn't until next week, we did get her cupcakes and sing happy birthday for her. She was delighted!

Here she is just a few minutes old:

...1 month birthday...

and 1 year birthday party...

Random Pics

It's been a while since I posted -- so here are some random pictures from the last two weeks. The first set are from Daphne Lebrun's birthday party (she turned 1) -- and the girls wacking the piƱata... The others are just them being silly around the house...

Great Country Farms, Cot'd

After we had our fill of strawberries, we spent the rest of the morning wandering around the farm, where they had all sorts of activities...

The water pump was a favorite of the girls...it was hard to tear them away from this. Such a simple concept, yet they were hooked!

Time for a water break!

They had this cool thing called a Jumping Pillow, basically the biggest moon bounce you've ever seen!
Our little Japanese tourist!

Finally, we stopped for lunch. Here are the girls, famished, as they dive into their sandwiches.

Strawberry Fields Forever

This weekend, we went strawberry picking at Great Country Farms. The girls whined about half the drive there, so that was pretty unpleasant at 8 am on a weekend, but once we got there, they were thrilled. "Farmer Bob" took us out on the tractor, and as soon as we got into the fields, Alexa started eating berries, and didn't stop until she was full! By the time we turned around for the hayride, Alexa's face and dress were completely streaked with red berry juice. Emma got into the swing of things too, and I couldn't help thinking of "Blueberries for Sal."

Here we are walking the fields, in search of ripe berries (so juicy and delicious, the best I've ever tasted!)

Here is Alexa biting into a really juicy one. I love the look on her face. Note the berry stains on her face and dress!

I had to pick double-time. Alexa was following me around. For every berry I put into the bucket, I had to find one for her to eat, because she was eating them so fast. Good thing they didn't weigh her on the way out!

Meadowlark Gardens

It was a really beautiful day today in Virginia -- it never got higher than about 80, and there was a constant breeze which felt so good. So my mom and I brought the girls over to Meadowlark Gardens. Ironically, we ran into Birgit and the kids there which was an unexpected treat. All the girls had a blast feeding the geese, turtles, and fish, and having an "Alice in Wonderland" tea party!

Herndon Festival

This weekend, we went to the Herndon Festival. We actually had a lot better of a time here this weekend, though it was twice as hot! The girls got the "unlimited rides" wristband, which allowed Emma the time she needed to warm up on the rides, and Alexa got to ride the rides she loved numerous times. For example, Alexa drove the cars 6 times and rode the helicopter 4 times.

On every single ride, Alexa was cracking up and having the time of her life. Emma has, as Arturo calls it, "her music on the inside." She didn't show it when the rides were going, but I think she had a great time.

It was so hot we had to find shade and stop for a juice break!
