Our annual trip this year to the Outer Banks was Tessa's first visit to the beach. I was so nervous about whether or not she would like the water and how much sand she would eat! No reason to be anxious - Tessa LOVED the waves - spending so much time out in the surf with Arturo, jumping the waves. But she did not like the sand and froze every time we put her on the dry sand. It must have been the texture of the dry sand, because she was fine on the wet sand. Thus, the only sand in her mouth was accidental - and it was very little of it!
The trip this year was incredibly laid back - we just relaxed, ate good food and went down to the beach when the mood struck. As always, Emma seems so much more carefree and happy when she is at the beach - running, chasing the waves - it's wonderful to watch her screaming with happiness.
Alexa is quieter - she's ok with the beach - but frankly, hates all the "to do" that comes with preparing for the beach (sunscreen) and the aftermath - (bathtime). But at the beach, she happily plays in the sand.
We went down to Cape Hatteras because Alexa was finally tall enough to climb the lighthouse! Here she is, thumbs up - because she passed the height test!
On our last day at the beach, Arturo helped the girls dig a big hole. They worked dutifully on it for the rest of the afternoon - plugging away and getting deeper and deeper. By then end, both girls could stand inside of it and you wouldn't be able to see them!
Plopped my beach chair in the surf, sat Tessa on my lap, and we watched the waves and birds together. Ah, heaven.
Here comes a big one Tessa!!!
