Museo del Niño

On Monday, we went to the Kite Museum for Kids. This place was AWESOME. We spent 3 hours there, but could have easily spent another 3. It is a completely hands on museum for kids where they learn about things through touching and playing and interacting. Although, I think that Arturo and I had as much fun as they did. A couple of times, I couldn't find Arturo, and it was because he had wandered off to get his hair filled with static electricity or to try other science experiments.

Alexa and the levitating balls!


This was one of my favorites. "Walmart" had sponsored a mini-supermarket for kids. It was a completely stocked supermarket made for kids, including kid sized carts, food, and produce. Here are Pau and Em shopping and at the "checkout" line.

This is me on this spinning thing, that made you spin really fast, depending on if you were leaning inwards or outwards. I hated it.

The Giant Bubble Room. This was a room filled with all sorts of bubble makers big and small. Very cool. Except that Emma stepped in a pool of bubble juice and completely soaked her shoes and pants.

Hanging with Abi

Arturo and I went out Sunday afternoon and the girls stayed at home playing with Abi. When we got home, we found them all cuddled up and swinging in Abi's hammock.

Here is the whole gang (minus Abi, who's taking the picture) shortly before we left Cocoyoc to return to Mexico City.

The girls picked limes from Abio's lime tree and Abi made fresh limeade that day for lunch.

Dale, Dale, Dale!

The title of this post is the song that you sing as the kids whack at the piñata. Poor Tinker Bell never stood a chance. Then again, she was a pretty scary Piñata, bigger than all the girls!

If you enlarge this picture, you will see that the piñata is being held up by... men's belts. We forgot the rope for the Tinker Bell, so all the men strung together their belts...

Here are Emma and Alexa, honing their piñata hitting skills. But once the candy and toys fell, they were no match for the professional Mexican candy grabbers, also known as every Mexican child over the age of 2.

Birthday Party - Rain with Cupcakes

It rained almost every single day we were in Mexico. The day of the birthday party was no different. Here are some of the cousins, swimming in the rain, and Emma ankle deep in mud!

Montse turns 1 in two weeks, Alexa just turned 2, Fabi turns 3 in a month, Emma turns 4 in a few days, and Pau turns 5 in a few days! (Emma and Pau have the exact same birthday!) Each granddaughter got her own cupcake arrangement with her age on it.

Why do all our pictures of Alexa involve her with cake on her face!?!

Saturday - Pre-Birthday Party

On Saturday morning, the weather was nice enough to have breakfast on the patio. Here are the girls ready to dig into "hotcakes" and making silly faces:

Cocoyoc

On Friday, we left for Cocoyoc, where Arturo's Dad lives. We didn't wait too long before jumping into the pool! This was also the first day that Alexa ate, after not being able to eat anything for 3 full days on account of the blisters in her mouth. So we were all happy that she was starting to get back to her smiley self.

Piccolo Mondo

On our first full day in Mexico, Arturo and Ale took the girls to an indoor play park called "Piccolo Mondo." I stayed home with Abi and Alexa as Alexa was still getting over Coxsackie. I was so jealous when the girls came back telling me about how much fun it was! Some excerpts below:
