On this holiday last year, we took the girls to a local park, had a fun picnic, and then stayed up late to watch the fireworks. (Or course, Alexa fell asleep in Arturo's arms at around 9:30 and slept right through those fireworks, but Emma loved it!) This year, with Tessa, we decided to take a much more low key approach to celebrating. We went to a friend's house for dinner (Alexa's best friend from school, Madeline) and then came home to put Tessa down to sleep. Then the big girls got to play with sparklers and we watched sporadic fireworks from nearby neighborhoods.
